Haarlem Council may veto the University in The Dome

The Dome

It has come to light that Haarlem Council may refuse plans for turning The Dome into a University.

The plans to make this happen are too costly and will take too long to achieve. The municipality would buy the monumental building  for 6.4 million euros and immediately resell it to the group,  Panopticon. The group had plans that would take two years to complete.

The Haarlem Council may want to sell The Dome to a buyer who can turn the empty building into something else much quicker, such as a a property developer.

Neighbors who live in the vicinity of The Dome are not happy and want a University built there instead.

More negotiations with Haarlem Council and Panopticon will take place on Thursday.
