“Gelato Festival”, the Festival of the Italian ice cream, goes on tour: from Florence to Amsterdam, where the event will take place from August 7 to 10. Do you know that Italian ice cream comes from Italy? Of course! Do you know that it comes from Florence? Maybe. You will probably not know yet that it is a fellow citizen of Dante Alighieri. Did you know that ice cream is a fellow citizen of Dante Alighieri? Bernardo Buontalenti conceived in 1558 in Florence the first recipe of the most beloved fresh products ever. One of the symbols of the “Made in Italy” in the world that knows no crisis. But rather feeds, from generations and generation of consumers, an industry sector that continues to record a plus sign. That’s why Grabriele Poli, Florentine entrepreneur, created the “Gelato Festival”, which means the “Ice Cream Festival”. The event was founded in 2010. Last year it was held in 4 cities (Florence, Milan, Turin and Rome). 120 ice-cream makers, 1 million visitors.

This will be the year of further expansion, with the transformation of the event into a true touring event. Ten Italian stages: Florence (1-4 May with the participation of Algida as “main sponsor” and Ferrero “Gold Sponsor”), followed by Lecce, Riccione, Milan, Rome, Turin, Verona, Naples, Viareggio and Senigallia. From the 10th of July it’s time for elsewhere in Europe: Cannes, Barcelona, Paris, Monaco, Germany, where it will be celebrated around the figure of Catherine de ‘Medici, and finally Amsterdam, August 7 to 10. More information on the Gelato Festival website. The site is only in Italian. This makes it even more “made in Italy” ;-).
