Beginning of October. This means that Haarlem turns into a true Mecca for kids! The whole month of October there are in Haarlem lots of fun activities to do for kids of all ages. The focus of the program lies in the Autumn Holiday, from the 11th to the 18th of October. We made a selection of 7 October activities for children aged 0-5 years. 

In the program booklet of Haarlem Marketing you can find a complete overview of all the children’s activities. You can get the booklet at the tourist office on the Grote Market or look at the online edition. We made a selection of 7 October activities.

1. Autumn Walk in the Woods

Organised by expatsHaarlem Parents & Kids: Saturday, October 18, 9:45 am, all ages. FREE EVENT.

Colorful trees and rustle of the leaves under your shoes. It is not only a pleasure, but also healthy… and a lot of fun for kids. The little treasure hunters can look for & collect jewels of the autumn. We will join the weekly walk organized by Bezoekerscentrum De Kennemerduinen in beautiful National Park Zuid Kennermerland. The walk will be lead by a professional guide and will leave exactly at 10:00, therefore don’t be late. Tired after the walk we will enjoy a chat over hot tea and a piece of cake at Duincafé de Kennemerduinen.

2. Children’s Book Week

1 to 12 October, all ages.

Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading. Children’s Book Week is a popular national literacy initiative in the Netherlands. Every year, commemorative events are held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, homes — wherever young readers and books connect!

The theme of the 60th Kinderboekenweek/Children’s Book Week is: Party! In the library, but also in various bookstores in Haarlem activities are organized and the best children’s books for sale. See the sites of Kiek Book and Bookstore de Vries.

3. Frans Hals Museum

Every Sunday from 2:00 pm, all ages, EUR 5.00 per family (excluding access museum, children free)

Vrolijke Frans for the whole family.

* Combine this getaway ABC Architecture Centre (opposite the museum) where you can play with Lego.

4. The little gym

Autumn Holiday program, Monday, October 13 and Tuesday, October 14, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm and Thursday, October 16, 1:00 to 4:00 pm. 3-8 years old. EUR 25.00 per session for non-members

* Ideal for rainy days! Then stay at home reading books or eating biscuits.
