Uiltje Bar: A new place for craft brews

Maybe you’ve already hear of them or tasted had their beer but did you know that they will be opening their very own café this weekend?! That’s right, Brouwerij het Uiltje will be opening the Uiltje Bar at Zijlstraat 18 in Haarlem on Saturday February 21st.

Brouwerij het Uiltje (or the Little Owl Brewery in English) started as some friends brewing craft beer together at home and turned into a brewery with it’s first beer on the market in 2013. Their mission is to “create F*cking good beer! Period!!” What’s more? Brouwerij het Uiltje is basedHaarlem! I’ve seen some of their beer in cafés around town and there are also a lot of their different bottles available at Melger’s. I always grab a bottle or two if I’m in the store. They are pretty good and there are so many different kinds to pick from.

The cool thing about this brewery is that they are not afraid to try new and different things. How about one called the Flaming Ass Owl, made with hot peppers, or De Valse Noot witch is described as a banana split brown ale. A lot of these really special ones are only available for a limited time. They do however have more standard varieties that are always available such as UPA (Uil Pail Ale) and Ransuil which is an oak aged imperial stout.

Uiltje Bar will have 30 beers on tap. Beer from Brouwerij het Uiltje will of course be available as well as Dutch and other international craft beers. They will also have a large selection of beers available in bottles as well.

I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to trying this place out and will be there on Saturday to have a look. According to the official Facebook event for the opening, as of the time of this writing, there are 362 people planning on being there for the grand opening so be prepared for a crowd. I say the more the merrier as long as we are all craft beer lovers, right?
