The weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of July will all be about the river Spaarne that meanders its way through Haarlem.
On July the 2nd, for the very first time, a music concert will be held on the Spaarne. A unique line up will include Sandra van Nieuwland, opera group The Fat Lady, Aina, The Voice Company, Yorick van Norden and José King. The performances take place all along the Spaarne. Because of this event, Spaarne is closed from 16:00 to traffic and water traffic closes from 18:00. This gives interested parties the opportunity to come down with their boat to the pontoon, to experience the show up close. Moorings can be ordered via www.spaarneconcert.info
The concert will take place from 19:00.
Spaarne Concerto for Swim to Fight Cancer.
Spaarne concert is dedicated to the charity, Swim to Fight Cancer, the swim which takes place in the Spaarne the next day (3rd July). The money raised by selling places, such as a boat ahead of the stage, a VIP spot on the quay or various advertising statements that can be purchased benefit cancer research and education. Olympic champion Maarten van der Weijden will speak this evening to the public.
The organization is currently working to complete the program and sell various sponsorship packages. The enthusiasm for this first concert is already big now among the Haarlem residents and entrepreneurs.
The swim will take place on the 3rd July from 10:00. More information can be found on the link: http://haarlem.swimtofightcancer.nl/
‘Swimming together to support cancer research. Together, we can make sure that cancer is no longer a death sentence.
During this unique swim, hundreds of swimmers take to the stunning canals in the heart of Haarlem and the beautiful river Spaarne to raise as much money as possible for the fight against cancer.’
