The Dutch very popular characters, loved by adults and kids, are turning 40. To celebrate Pathé Cinemas are showing an hour long special daily until the 6th April 2016.
For those who do not know what ‘Buurman & Buurman’ is
‘Two friends facing self-made problems where they try to solve them by using anything impossible and possible and their solutions lead to more problems, at the end the “problem” is fixed and finish off with their distinctive handshake.’ quote source
‘Buurman & Buurman’ (Neighbour & Neighbour) also known as ‘Pat & Mat’, were first broadcast in their original format (without speech) in 1976. 49 episodes of ‘Buurman & Burrman’ were revived and broadcast in the early nineties dubbed with voices provided by Dutch actors Simon van Leeuwen and Kees Prins.
The series has had an amazing number of reruns. ‘Buurman & Buurman’ has numerous fan clubs on the internet and in 2007 ‘Buurman & Buurman’ was voted the most popular children TV show on the Sunday morning show, ‘Villa Achterwerk.’
The humor is very slapstick, and most of the fun is in anticipating the mayhem which is always more over the top than you expect. So if you fancy having a jolly good giggle with the family, head on over to Pathé Haarlem.
