COME KNOCKING
Door Knockers add character to any door, it is a feature that carries the characters of the culture and how you knock on a door. Some countries don’t have door knockers, only door bolts, does that say anything about them, like minimalist or ‘use your hand or voice’ ?
I noticed this in heritage street in Penang Malaysia. Maybe its to do with tropical climates where there are windows are always open, and one just calls out. In India and Middle east one see a variety of door bolts wick act as door knockers too. What do you think door knockers convey about the cultures ? which culture do you come from, one that uses their voice, hand, a bolt, knocker or a bell ?
