Dutch short animated film A Single Life wins Oscar nomination (+ trailer)
The Dutch short animation film A Single Life has been nominated for an Oscar. A Single Life, directed by Joris Oprins, is about a girl called Pia who plays a mysterious vinyl single. When playing the mysterious single, Pia is suddenly able to travel through her life. If she spins the record forward, she becomes older. If she skips backwards, she gets younger.
In total, 85 films were nominated for the Oscar. The team behind the film, including Job Roggeveen en Marieke Blaauw, are planning go to Los Angeles to try to let as many people as possible see their production. The Oscar ceremony takes place on February 22.
The film has been seen by over 1.5 million people in the Netherlands, partly due to its inclusion in the pre-programme for box office success Gooische Vrouwen 2. Another Dutch animated short film, Father and Daughter by Michael Dudok de Wit, won the Oscar in 2000.
