Can you believe it’s almost the end of August? It’s sad that summer is coming to the end but on the brights side, every years at the end of August is Haarlem Jazz and More, the free five day music festival that takes place in the streets of Haarlem.Don’t like Jazz you say? No problem, as the name implies, it’s Haarlem Jazz and More. There are many types of music represented throughout the festival. This year Heineken is the new sponsor and according to the festival’s website, haarlemjazzandmore.nl, the partnership will make the festival even better with a goal to let people come together.
When and Where?
The festival takes place on August 17th until the 21th. On the 17th, mayor Bernt Schneiders and Martijn Bevelander will open the festival at 17:00 in the Grote Markt. The festival will really come to life on the 18th when it will not only take place in the Grote Markt but also in the Oude Groenmarkt, Klokhuisplein, and Pletterij. On Saturday (19th) and Sunday (20th) one additional location will be added, Proveniersplein. Finally on the 21th, the festival will close from 10:00 – 12:00 at St. Bavokerk on the Grote Markt.
Performers such as Caro Emerald, Van Dik Hout, Kenny B, Sandra van Nieuwland, Diggy Dex, and Sabrina Starke just to name a few. For the the complete list and to see when and where the performances will take place, check the program here.
- There will be plenty of places to buy drinks out in the street to enjoy while watching the shows. It is not allowed to bring your own drinks.
- It’s best to come to the festival either with public transport or by bike. The city will be crowded on these days and driving is not recommended.
- Food and toilets will also be available in the Grote Markt.
