January is a sleepy month, as Haarlem recovers from the merrymaking, present giving and fireworks extravaganza. But there are one or two events happening this month that may inspire you to venture out in this dark, gloomy month.
On Thursday, January 10 you can visit and see the local language school, Taalthuis for an open day.
Continuing until February, Frans Halls Museum is hosting a special exhibition of the artist, Frans Halls alongside modern artists who are inspired by Frans Halls. Get your tickets here.

On Wednesday, 16 January is the Dutch Language Cafe, where you can informally practise your Dutch with other expats and locals. Don’t forget to sign up!

On Friday, 18 January is also the expatsHaarlem New Year’s Drink with a performance of singer Anita Sanders. Then it’s to time to make a new year’s toast en meet and chat together. Make sure to sign up and get your tickets for free.
On Monday, 21 January is the Haarlem Social Groups Blue Monday at Hello I am Local. On Thursday, 31 January there is a Pub Quiz at the same location sign up here.
