More information on Mugfest 2019:
Haarlem Climate Agreement
Robbert Berkhout, alderman for sustainability: ‘Many people want to do something about sustainability, but not everyone knows how. Mugfest is a positive festival where people from Haarlem can be inspired by how we can work together on a livable, green and future-proof Haarlem. It is also a good stage for parties that are already working together to make Haarlem more sustainable now that we have joined the Haarlem Climate Agreement.’
Durable wardrobe
Mugfest is drawing special attention to the area of textiles as Haarlem is taking part in the Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week for the first time. The municipality of Haarlem is organizing various activities together with DSFW between the 4th and 13th of October, such as a Green Textile Route along 30 stores that sell sustainable clothing. During Mugfest you can go to ‘The positive chain of change’, a documentary about the clothing industry. The maker Chanel Chapman leads a discussion panel where, among others, Lonneke Verbunt, founder BrandMission, and Maaike Groen, founder of MissGreen, take a seat. The Mugfest Clothing Exchange takes place in the grand café Brinkmann.
Haarlem is becoming increasingly gas-free
At the Pop-up Housing Check, Haarlemmers can go to the Sustainability Counter, the Sustainable Building Counter, and energy coaches to get advice on sustainable measures and their financing.
Children’s activities
There are plenty of activities to do for children at Mugfest. There is a quest through the sustainability market. The employees of Nature and Environmental Education (NME) give workshops on (forgotten) food and nature. Parents and children can attend two theater performances in the Hoofdwacht: ‘Glittergroente’ by Marijke Kots and ‘Aaf and Baaf are getting married sustainably’ by Nieuwe Gracht Producties.
Music
There is music from singer Nyjolene Gray, Pop Choir Zingsation, which regularly performs at festivals, and The Last Wave, Haarlems latest offering with a fresh and melodic style. The day will draw to a close with an eclectic mix of well-known hits from Mashup.
Mugfest 2019 is an event of the Groene Mug and is organized by Goes Pr & Entertainment Production.
