Netherlands not to final of Eurovision Song Contest for first time since 2015

Netherlands not to final of Eurovision Song Contest for first time since 2015

Yesterday the Dutch singers Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper failed to secure a place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is the first time since 2015 that the Netherlands has failed to reach the final.

Burning Daylight did not receive enough votes from viewers at home. In previous years, the jury could still have made a difference for the Dutch entry, but since this year the professional jury no longer hands out points in the semi-finals.

Sweden, Norway, Serbia and Finland did manage to qualify for the final. Croatia, Moldova, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Israel will also take to the stage again in Liverpool on Saturday. The final will take place this Saturday at 9pm.

In 2015, Trijntje Oosterhuis was the last artist to fail to reach the final on behalf of the Netherlands.

Second semifinal and final Eurovision Song Contest

The second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest takes place first on Thursday 11 May 2023. Among others, Belgium, Austria and Australia will then compete for a place in the final.

On Saturday 13 May 2023, under the watchful eye of thousands of spectators and millions of viewers at home, as many as 25 countries will compete for the best song of 2023 in the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
