From Thursday, November 5th, 2015 the shops in the center of Haarlem will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 19:00 hours (3×7).
The extension of the opening hours, with shops being open one hour longer than before, is still a pilot project. After half a year it will be evaluated. The proposal for the 3×7 opening hours comes from the Centre Management Group (CMG) and has been enthusiastically received by the retailers. With this adjustment entrepreneurs want to respond to the needs of shoppers; 3×7 also contributes to a better connection of the retail and the food industry, so that they reinforce each other
Own choice shopkeeper
The 3×7 opening does not mean that retailers are not aloud to be open at other times may be open. It is up to each merchant to decide themselves on what day they open their doors and for how long. That may be from Monday to Saturday until 22:00 hours and on Sundays (from 12:00) till 18:00 hours. With the introduction of the 3×7 opening the current late night shopping on Thursday is no longer promoted.
The trial period of the 3×7 opening will last six months. After this period the project will be evaluated.
