Taalthuis was founded by Margreet van ‘t Haaff in 2006. Margreet studied Dutch language and literature at the University of Leiden.
When she had finished her studies she worked for ten years as a communications expert in both business and education. As a mother of three children she started to teach Dutch to expats in her own house. She then decided to develop a course tailored to the situation of the expat and the au pair.
Since 2006 hundreds of expats and au pairs learned Dutch at Taalthuis. Taalthuis develops all its lesson materials.
Taalthuis works on the principle that anybody can learn Dutch. Taalthuis teaches you how to speak, read and write Dutch in small groups. Using a wide range of interesting subjects and current topics, Taalthuis helps you to gain command of the Dutch language in a light-hearted and enjoyable way. What’s more, you will learn a lot about life in the Netherlands! Taalthuis works with well-trained teachers, lessons take place at convenient and pleasant locations. In Haarlem Taalthuis teaches at Lorentzplein 25. Almost all lesson materials are created by Taalthuis and online exercises are available on the e-learning
