On the last day that security updates about Windows XP were offered, 7.4% of the Dutch consumers and companies still use Windows XP, the outdated operating system of Microsoft.
In the Netherlands the usage of Windows XP is however lower than elsewhere in Europe, where more than 14% still uses XP. This is what Microsoft Nederland communicated a couple of days ago.
Now that tomorrow, after 12.5 years support on Windows XP will finish, the system is not safe anymore. This means that privacy data like bank details can be conquered. Both Microsoft and the Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum in the Netherlands advice consumers to find an alternative in Windows 7. They can also buy a new Windows or Apple computer.
