Safety concerns: Babboe CITY and MINI cargo bikes recalled

Babboe has announced a recall of its CITY, CITY E, MINI, and MINI E cargo bikes due to safety concerns, the company disclosed on Tuesday.

Customers owning bikes affected by the recall will be provided with a replacement or offered another “suitable alternative” along with compensation for any inconvenience incurred, Babboe assured.

“After conducting research, it has been determined that the safety of the CITY, CITY E, MINI, and MINI E models cannot be guaranteed,” Babboe stated. Consequently, the company, in collaboration with the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), has initiated the recall. “In countries where Babboe products are sold, we are actively engaging with relevant authorities to ensure appropriate measures are taken.”

To facilitate the process, the company has established a website where customers owning a Babboe CITY or MINI cargo bike can input their frame number to verify if their bike is subject to the recall. The site is scheduled to go live at 10:00 a.m.

Earlier this month, the NVWA directed Babboe to halt the sale of cargo bikes following reports of frames experiencing random braking.
